Seven Days of Work and Deception: Day Two

My thoughts were racing as usual. So many meetings and so any mini conferences. how come the company could not have had these events in places worth while. Anyways I will sit here and try to enjoy my lunch. I drew my attention to the couple across the way from me. They seem so happy and have it all together but I know looks can be very deceiving. My husband should be here by Friday and I do miss him. But with the constant work changes and demands especially this time of the year it seems we barely see each other. But somehow for nine years we made do. Cheating can easily happen, hell with both of our schedules an entire life can happen but I try my best to remain positive and faithful. I will say, we both make our own money. If a divorce happens it would not be ugly. We both work hard to be in the places we are now and neither one of use is greedy. But anyways the first client to attack will be here at 3 o'clock today and I need to be ready. If the team have done their proper research then...

"Good afternoon Mrs. Deeson...fancy meeting..."

"If your going to sit then have a seat Mr. Parr", I interrupted

"Blunt and to the point so this means..."

"Yes, that I am very busy and have much to think about, is that what your going to say?" I said with much arrogance. I wanted him to understand that I am not up for games and business will always come first. Also this constant awareness and presence to me was wearing thin on my patience.

"No that you need a break and maybe a conversation"

"Definitely Not Mr. Parr"

"Well, I know a little information you may want to know",  he said  slightly drawing my attention to his silver Rolex.

"Mr. Parr I'm not sure what you..."

"About your 3 o'clock?", he interrupted

How in the hell did he know about my meeting and three. Now I'm curious and upset. If he is getting in my way now that he knows who I am and who I work for then I know its time to get rid of him.

"I don't know what you are talking about..", I lied

"I think you do Mrs. Deeson. You see I ran into your 3 o'clock and I could have sworn I saw him with his belongs leaving the hotel and..."

"Your are lying", I said with distine and grabbing my phone.

"Hello, Mr. Mathers this is Mrs. Deeson, I am calling to see of our meeting..." I could see staring at me with a huge smile on his face as he hear my client explain it all.

"How did you...?", I asked in curiosity

"How did I know? Well like you said dear Vets over rookies besides my company has been watching him for sometime now and..."

"Fine", I said in anger

"But that is here nor there. The real deal now is that you do not have a meeting at three and I would love it if you would accompany me to..."

"I'm sorry I can not do that I have...", I interrupted

"My companies Gold Gala tomorrow night", he interrupted

"Your company is hosting the Gold Gala?"

"Yes, every three years my company host it. For you and this one loss I will  give you access to many more opportunities to recover with. This is the best I can do to show how the big leagues are held. " he said with a smirk. He knew I was interested.

"Now your just showing off"

"A little bit but I'm also doing it so you can see I'm also about my work and not just a pest in my leisure time. Besides you might see something very interesting there."

"Like what" I said in with even more curiosity

"A lot of the top people ever to walk this earth with deep pockets and connections will be there and also including yours truly"

"I will get back to you on it...". He reaches into his top blazer pocket, pulls out a envelope and slides it towards me.

"This is two tickets. Since you will not accompany me please be my guest. I want to see the Great Mrs. Deeson at work for myself. I want to see how much of a threat you really are."

As much as I could not stand him he was right in too many ways so I took the tickets. He nodded his head and left the table. The number one person to call of course is Annica. the ball is huge and I know with  press only being able to cover the outside she can cover the inside with a bit of caution. When I finished my lunch finally I called up the team on a conference call. Knowing that Mr. Parr had a leg up on my meeting was not acceptable. We need to push harder and also a totally different angle. I told the team where I will be tomorrow night and to have their resources and phones on stand by. A lot work was going to be done that night. We need new blood on the table and more strategies to combat with. Its on now. The rest of my day went as planned and I did not see Mr. Parr at all. I took it kinda as a sign of relief. I tried calling my husband but it went straight to voicemail. I try my best to keep a set call time to convenience the both of us but its rare that we miss our regular call time. I left a few messages telling him that I would be at a event and for how long. Normally I would get a text back in a few hours but I didn't this time. So I called up Andrew Keenan. my favorite friend and chiropractor. I love talking to him, very down to earth and gives pretty damn good advice.

"Hi Julee, Mr. Keenan please"

"Yes Mrs. Deeson one moment please. Mrs. Deeson Mr. Keenan is in the middle of a session, Can I take a message?"

"Yes, please tell him to give me a call me on my personal line in his convenience please"

"Yes, Mrs. Deeson"

"Thank you Julee"

I needed to talk to him about Mr. Parr. The best Intel person is someone who can pull pain and pleasure out of any client. No one better than him, I decided to give Annica a call and get her schedule and always she clears it for anything major and worth while attending. Now done with meeting I decided to check out the local bakery. There is nothing more relaxing than fresh bread and pastries. Sitting outside contemplating life, work and my marriage it really does clam me down and refreshes me. Like I said being a workaholic has its perks and also its down sides. As I continue my thoughts my phones rings and of course its Andrew. Never thought I would be so happy for a phone call. Even if its not my husband.

"Hey bestie whats up", I said happily

"Whats the scoop chica?", Andrew said in a broken accent

"I called to see how your doing and some small talk"

"Well you caught me at the best time. My next appointment is in maybe two hours from now maybe. I have some much to tell you."

Andrew and i talked about everything. His life and mine. I also decide to tell him about Mr. Parr and the event tomorrow night. Crazy enough he never heard of him and at that point Mr. Parr raised  a red flag. So I put one member of the team on him. I needed to know who he is and why he is around. his presence to me is becoming more and more suspicious. After chatting with Andrew I made my way back to the hotel. I needed to place my phone on the charger and get some type of rest. It was about 6:20 pm and I still have not received a message from my husband. I was starting to worry a bit but I should stay focus. While in my thought yet again I hear a knock at the door.

*knock knock*

"Who is it"

"Room Service"

I open the door and told the gentlemen that I did not order room service. Truly I did not care for this particular hotel menu for lunch or dinner. He informs me that the gentlemen in the suite in 3104 ordered it for me. I asked the gentlemen where that room was located and as suspected it was the one right above mine. I kindly ask him to take the tray to that room and say no thank you. But instead he hands me a card and leaves. I wanted to rip the card up, storm up the stairs and give him a piece of my mind but instead I read the card. It read "Enjoy this light late dinner out on the balcony". I rolled the cart in near my desk and open it. It was actually something very simple. A chicken ceasar salad, fruit salad, Greek yogurt, tea and coffee. to be honest I did skip dinner due to my determination to get more clients so why not. I followed the instructions very reluctantly. I moved my laptop and the cart to the balcony. I sat down on the patio chair and noticed he wasn't there. Another clear peaceful night. No interruptions. Before I could get fully comfortable I hear the mosquito parring voice above me say...

"Since you will not allow me to have dinner with you I guess I will have to settle for this"

"I guess you settle for anything", I said snidely

"And I see you'll do anything as long as someone is directing you. So you can be submissive after all" he replied

I almost choked on my salad but all I could do was smile and say koddos. Then he continues.

"To be honest no I don't. Getting exactly what I want v.s. what I need blends together too often"

"So what would you call this a need or a want?", I asked

"Both", he responded

"Both?"

"Yes, Both"

"Please explain, Mr. Parr"

"Your never going to call me Deshawn will you?"

"No, you and I are not acquaintances but rivals. you have skills and a lot more resources than me which makes you someone I must be better than. You to me are a challenge."

"Wow! You make me sound like a real enemy or something"

" I was taught to view all people that are not with me as enemies. Not every single person is your friend especially in this industry."

"Well said Mrs. Deeson", he said

"I prides myself in telling the truth even to my clients."

"Sometimes you have to with hold the truth I mean..."

"Only if you have something to hide", I interrupted

"I understand", he agreed

"So Mr. Parr when will you start telling me that truth?"

"What do you mean?"

"Yes, the truth. Why your here in this hotel, at my companies function, and then your interest in me...the truth"

As he pondered the varies of questions I laaid out I received an email from one of my team members. The email consisted of a full bio of one Mr. Deshawn Parr. So now I can compare his lies to the truth that is not now in front of me. Finally he speaks...

"Well Mrs. Deeson what would you like to know first?"

"I have given you a list of questions already. Lets begin with those."

"Hmmm...I think I will retire for now."

"I see the truth has your feet busy more than your lips"

"I will say this. When you come to the Gala I will answer all your questions. A woman such as yourself has much to do before the event so I will not waste anymore of your evening."

"Humph, well thank you for the..." And before I knew it he was gone. and the door to his suite closed shut. I was prepared for him to speak. Watching him spill his guts out would have been my actually dessert but with this quick exit he has completely drawn me in further. I have to be smarter and bit more careful when comes down to him. I continued to sit outside and enjoy my late dinner. Soon after I received a call from Annica. She wanted to discuss the details of the Gala and also I wanted to her input on Mr. Parr. I needed a bit more ammo and even more security against him. As I began the conversation I noticed my phone was acting very funny. It only happens when I am around other electronics with high freqs. I moved inside and the noise stopped but then I moved near the cart it started again. So I continued talking to Annica as I Inspected the cart and to my surprise a mini microphones was attached to the bottom. I thought to myself that sly bastard. He probably bribed the bellmen to help him spy on me. I guess this is how Vets play ball. So i decided to spin the conversation in my favor and give a little more than what he wants to hear. I need him to understand that I am in control but on the other hand I found it extremely interesting that he would go to such great lengths to discover m plans. Everything was not adding up or making a bit of sense. After talking up a storm with Annica I decided to turn in but a knock came to my door. It was getting pretty late well for me at least and yes I did have much to do before the Gala. I got up and open the door.

"Who is it?", I said knowing I can just look thru the peep hole.

"Hotel service ma'am," he responded ", I've come to retrieve the cart from earlier"

I open the door and pointed to the direction of the cart. I was ask the guy a few questions but I maintained by curiosity and composure. But I did let him know not to bring anymore trays unless I order them. He understood. As soon as I closed the door a moment later another knock was at my door. I thought the gentlemen forgot something. I did notice I kept the yogurt and fruit salad plate. I guess he looked at the ticket and notice a few dishes missing and came back. I open the door without thinking and there stood Mr. Parr. Very bold of him to show up to my room. At this point I got a bit nervous. What if he decided that I was taking to long to make a move or what if he was listening and wanted to get more personal with me.

"Hello Mrs. Deeson"

"Mr. Parr"

He started to walk closer to my door but I quickly stepped out slightly blocking his path.

"May I help you Mr. Parr?", I said in the sternest voice I could muster

"I just wanted to tell you goodnight that all"

And with a response from me again he leaves. I'm officially confused about this man now. i closed the door and got into the bed. I checked the phone one last time and still not messages from my husband. Now I was beginning to worry. Before I could dial his number again the room phone rings.

"Hello, Who is this?", I said

"Mrs. Deeson"

"Mr. Parr? I think these games are pass over their prime. it's becoming quite annoying. Can you please..."

"Are you done?" he interrupted

"Rude much?", I said with much destine

"I will answer one of your questions if your to willing to listen Mrs. Deeson?"

"I'm listening Mr. Parr"

"The reason I was at your company fcuntion was because of business and to confirm somethings. If I assume you right you have already pulled up a bio of me right?"

"Maybe...Yes", I said

"Did you open it yet?" he asked

"No, I have not. Why open it when I can get it everything straight from you", I stated

"Read it and you will see something very interesting."

And then he hangs up. I really do not have time for these games but too much of my curiosity was being tossed around I needed some type of clarity. I did as he asked and opened the email. As I read the bio I said to my say I can't believe it. Mr. Parr is a very accomplished man but what caught my attention was his martial status. Mr. Parr is married and has been for close to nine years. The same amount of time as me but his wife's name is not listed. I continued to look further and there it was standing out like big flashing lights. Mr.Parr is suppose to be in New York City but he is here in Kansas City. Why? Who is this man, why is he here and lastly should I go the Gala?
